I am a 8 year old boy my question is how is pillow lava formed?

Hi Cody,
Pillow lava is formed when basalt lava flows under water. It can either be
erupted under water (such as from an under water volcano or from a mid-ocean
ridge) or it can flow from on land into the water. Pillow lava is pretty
much the under water equivalent of pahoehoe on land. You might want to go
back to VolcanoWorld and look at some of the photos of pahoehoe to give
you a good idea of what pillow lava looks like. Pillow lavas are usually
a little more rounded than pahoehoe toes and they also tend to have a
nice thick skin of glass on their outside.
Keep asking good questions.
Sincerely,
Scott Rowland
