I am photo researcher for an educational software company and I need
some photos of certain volcanos that I just can't seem to locate anywhere.
Any suggestions as to where I might find these? Pelee, Papua New Guinea,
Mauna Loa (hard to believe I can't get a decent photo of this one!),
and Mt.Pinatubo.

Dear Susan:
Seems that we have a similar problem. VolcanoWorld is always in search
of photos too. Several excellent photographers live in Hawaii. You
might call Dorian Weisel at (808) 967-7672 or Jim Griggs (808) 985-8893.
They have photos of Mauna Loa. Steve O'Meara, also in Volcano, is an
excellent photographer that has been to numerous volcanoes. He probably
has photos of Pinatubo. Contact Steve through Sky Publishing Co., 49 Bay
State Rd., Cambridge, MA 02138-1200. Another resource is the photo
archives of the U.S. Geological Survey. I plan to see what they have
very soon. You might use their
Ask a Geologist
service to see what they
have available.
