Where can I get information about the recent and older eruptions at Fogo Cap Verde?

rocky

Hi,

There are not too many articles about Fogo that I have run across. The most basic one is in the Atlantic Ocean volume of the Catalog of Active Volcanoes of the World, by M. Neuman van Padang, AF Richards, F Machado, T Bravo, PE Baker, and RW LeMaitre (1967). You can also see information on the present eruption in the March 1995 issue of the Smithsonian Institution's Global Volcanism Network Bulletin. There are also other volcano home pages that might help, in particular "The Electronic Volcano" out of Dartmouth University. There is also a Cape Verde Islands home page, but it doesn't deal specifically with volcanoes.

Sincerely,

Scott Rowland, University of Hawaii

P.S., you should also check the newest edition of Volcanoes of the World by Tom Simkin and Lee Seibert.
