Do you have any ideas on researching for data on calderas? I've used georef and assorted biblios until now but have run into many problems getting the materials that seem most pertinent.

Hi Bethany,

There are many many articles on calderas. GeoRef is sometimes kind of strange. I would check the reference list of a recent paper by Mike Branney in the most recent issue of the Bulletin of Volcanology. He used holes that were melted in ice to model the formation of one type of caldera. He may not talk about all kinds but I'm sure his reference list is good. You might also try:

Walker, GPL (1988). Three Hawaiian calderas: an origin through loading by shallow intrusions? Journal of Geophysical Research vol. 93, no B12, pp. 14,733-14,784.

Hopefully these will give you good places to start.

Good Luck,

Scott Rowland
