I am interested in learning about undersea volcanism, and in particular, about how these volcanoes are studied. Do you know where I could find this information or if there is any on-line sources detailing undersea eruptions.

Hi John,

I just checked on the SOEST home page (SOEST stands for School of Ocean and Earth Sciences and Technology here at U. Hawai'i). Under Research groups is a sub group on HUGO, the Hawai'i Undersea Geophysical Observatory. Unfortunately there isn't much more there than just a pretty bathymetric image of Lo'ihi.

Chuck Wood suggests that you might check home pages of the RIDGE project, or that of Woods Hole. You might also try Scrips or even the "Electronic Volcano" right there at Dartmouth.

Sorry to not have anything more definite.

Scott Rowland, University of Hawaii
