The biggest volcano is Mauna Loa on the island of Hawaii. The base of Mauna Loa rises from the sea floor five kilometer to sea level, then another four kilometers above the sea, making Mauna Loa from base to summit nine kilometers high. Mauna Loa last erupted in March and April 1984. Sometime in the future, an eruption of Mauna Loa will send a lava flow toward Hilo, the second largest city in Hawaii.
Sincerely,
John Dvorak
