Does recent activity on Montserrat and "el Popo" increase the likelihood of activity in Costa Rica? Poas and Irazu are within sight of the capital San Jose - within reach of a pyroclastic flow?

Hi Eugene,

No, all those volcanoes are not connected to each other. Each one has its own pattern of eruptions. Sometimes they coincide (like Montserrat and Popocatepetl at the moment), and other times they don't. The Costa Rican (and all other) volcanoes will erupt when they want to and it doesn't matter what other volcanoes elsewhere in the world are doing.
