Can a volcano be stopped?

rocky Pat

Hi Pat,

No . . . but the impact of an eruption can be reduced by proper planning. For example, schools and hospitals should not be built in areas prone to volcanic hazards. Also, mudflows can be diverted or reduced by building dams or diversion levees . . . but eruptions cannot be controlled or stopped.

Sincerely,
John Dvorak
