I'm a third grade teacher in the Puget Sound area, and my class studies the
Pacific Rim. I'm interested in having them track volcano activity over a
~4 week period. Is there a service you know of that they can check in to
see what is happening on a day-to-day basis. Thanks! PS - I'm referring them
here for other information!! (I am using my librarians e-mail address.)

Dear Amanda and students:
VolcanoWorld provides summaries of current activity at volcanoes. We
often link to the
Michigan Tech Volcanoes
Page or
Dartmouth's
Electronic Volcano.
They archive
individual reports about eruptions. Your students might also check the
homepages of the
Alaska Volcano Observatory
and the
Cascade Volcano Observatory.
The homepage of the
Global Volcanism Network
provides excellent
information but it lags behind a month or so.
Good luck,
