Which volcano(s) are under most stress at the moment?
I have an earthquake & Volcano watch out for Nov. 22 &23 -
which may trigger one of the two with great magnitude.
Is this something that you are able to relate to under your
current observations now? I'd appriciate to hear from you!

Hi Karen,
There are so many volcanoes that are presently erupting or showing some
sort of unrest that it is hard to give a good answer. Three that come to
mind are Ruapehu in New Zealand (which started some minor explosions in
September but seems to be quieting down), Rincon de la Vieja in Costa Rica
(which exhibited strong steam explosions a couple weeks ago although since
it is so remote it may do this a lot of the time), and Etna in Italy
(which finished its last big eruption in 1993 but had a few pretty strong
explosions last week. Chance's Peak (also called Soufriere Hills) on the
island of Monsterrat is also being watched since it had its first recorded
eruptions earlier this year.
I don't understand the next part of your comment. Are you hoping for an
eruption or earthquake on November 22 and 23? Since on any given day of
the year there are a few volcanoes erupting and a few small-to-moderate
earthquakes, it is kind of an easy prediction.
I don't know anything about predicting earthquakes and as far as I know
there are no volcanoes that are predicted to erupt in a big way soon.
They can often take us by surprise though.
Sincerely,
Scott Rowland
