I would like to do some work with volcanos and the hazards associated with them. Whom would I contact?

rocky Ruth

Hi Ruth,

Probably the places you would want to contact are particular volcano observatories themselves. There are links to several of them on the VolcanoWorld home page, including HVO, CVO, and the Pasto (Colombia) obs. Since you are in the UK, I will give you the e-mail address of a friend of mine who has worked on Mt. Etna. He might have some other helpful suggestions for you. His name is Andrew Harris and he is at the Open University: A.J.L.Harris@open.ac.uk

Good luck with your efforts of working at an observatory. You may have to be a volunteer for a while at first (which is what I did for a while) but nevertheless I think you'll find it very rewarding.

Sincerely,

Scott Rowland
