What is the current height of the dome and how long will it take to fill the crater again at the rate it is rebuilding?

rocky Karen Cloutier gr 4 teacher

Dear Karen,

The dome at Mount St. Helens is 1,150 feet (351 meters) above crater floor on the north side and 690 feet (210 meters) on the south side. It has been inactive since 1991. A new eruption would be needed for a new dome to start filling the crater. Visit the Mount St. Helens page for more information about the dome.
