Has the height of the mountain increased since the 1980 eruption? My husband and I are having a debate. I say I think the Mt. looks more rounded than it did after it first erupted? Is this an illusion? or is my husband wrong? Desprate for an answer in Olympia Washington!

I can imagine that the shape of the mountain has changed since the 1980 eruption but if anything it would have gotten less tall, not taller. The remnant of the volcano consists of a pretty narrow edge at the top and I'm sure that parts of it have tumbled into the crater since 1980. I know that there have been no eruptions that would have built the rim higher.
