PujaLike all volcanoes, Mt. St. Helens was formed by many many eruptions of lava and ash. Some of the lava was fluid, some of the lava was viscous, some of the ash was spread far and wide, some of the ash piled up right around the vent. Occasional eruptions destroyed the volcano more than it built it up, but subsequent eruptions would begin the building process again.
Sincerely,
Scott Rowland
