How can I obtain a copy of a photograph of Mount St. Helens erupting? Do I need to obtain permission or pay a fee?

rocky Becki Parker

Dear Becki,

The Northwest Interpretive Association sells slides of Mount St. Helens erupting. If the slides are from the U.S. Geological Survey or the U.S. Forest Service they are in the public domain and you may use them as you wish (but please be courtesy and acknowledge the photographer and agency). You might also look at the slide sets offered by NOAA'S National Geophysical Data Center

If you need some other sources drop me another note.
