My Daughter and I are trying to determine the location of the Bufumbura Volcano.
We're pretty sure it's in Africa, but don't have any more of a location
than that. Your help would be appreciated.

Marshall and daughter,
Bufumbira is a name that is hard to identify with
a specific volcano. It appears to be the Uganda side of the broad Virunga
volcanic field that straddles the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and Zaire.
There are 8 large volcanoes in Virunga, and the Bufumbira area
contains about a dozen small cinder cones. The SIR-C radar that
flew on the Space Shuttle in 1994 obtained an excellent radar
image of eastern Virunga, including Bufumbira. In VolcanoWorld we will include the
image.
