Is Mt Kosciusko a volcano or a mountain?

rocky Shane

Dear Shane,

I had never heard of Mt. Kosciusko so I looked it up in "Volcanoes of the World" by Tom Simkin and Lee Seibert. They say only that it is a satellitic shield vent on Andrus volcano. So, I guess you could say it is a volcano, but more properly you would say that it is a vent on the flanks of a larger volcano.
