Your volcano page is really neat. I've got a question for you. I'm copyediting a high school Earth Science text and I need to find out where in the former Soviet Union there are fumeroles being used commercially to generate electricity. Could you help me?
Thanks.
Ann Collins
Dear Ann,
I don't know the answer! Kamchatka, a peninsula in far eastern Russia, has
many fumaroles and thermal springs. According to a map in the book,
"Volcanoes" by Bob and Barbara Decker there is a geothermal power planet
in southern Kamchatka. I would hazard a guess that it is at the
town of Petropavlovski. Sorry I'm not more definitive!
