I am searching for information on the Mount Pelee volcano. Do you know of internet locations that may have more information than what my encyclopedia offers. In particular, I need to determine the type of volcano it is, the type of lava it produced, and it eruption history.

Hi Claire,

I don't know of any internet sites, other than perhaps the "Electronic Volcano", but I can tell you a good book to look up. It is called Volcanoes of the World, by Tom Simkin and Lee Seibert, and the second edition was published by Geoscience Press in 1994. It will have the information you need on Mt. Pelee.

There still are some things that old fashioned techniques are better at.

Sincerely,

Scott Rowland, University of Hawaii
