Since Popocateptl has been erupting, do you know if the lodge at Tlamacas is open? Did the food service get open? Also, when is the best time to find the most snow on Popo? I would like to climb it again but this time with skis. Thank you, Brad Jackson

The latest internet information about Popocateptl can be found at:

However, it doesn't mention access to the volcano. There is an e-mail address for Dr. Hugo Delgado-Granados, who wrote the report. It is:

I would imagine that since Popocateptl is in the northern hemisphere that during the northern-hemisphere winter is the best time to find lots of snow. I guess it's possible that there is sometimes too much snow and the road is closed.
