I'm interested in the prehistoric volcano activity in the Uwharrie mountain range in south central N. Carolina . I would like maps and any information about this please. I would also like information about fault lines in the easten United States, maps and such.

Hi Kerri Bauer,

The volcanism in North Carolina must be very ancient for there has been no volcanism there for tens of millions of years! There may well have been volcanism 10s to 100s of millions of years ago, but that is beyond the time of expertise for the people at VolcanoWorld. I suggest you contact a geology dept at a major university in North Carolina and they can help you find out about faults and volcanoes there. Good luck!

Sincerely,
Chuck Wood
