How big was the 1982 eruption of El Chichon? Was it comparable to the 1912 eruption of Katmai?

The VEI for 1982 El Chichon was 5.
It erupted about a cubic kilometer of material.

For comparison, the 1912 eruption of Katmau (acutally, it was an eruption of Novarupta) had a VEI of 6. About ten cubic kilometers of material was erupted in Alaska in 1912.
