Five people who had climbed to the rim of the summit crater died when the volcano exploded. Their bodies were recoved a few days later. They had died from third-degree burns and contusions. Since the beginning of eruptions in 1995, climbing of the volcano has been prohibited and there are numberous signs posted around the volcanoes informing people of this.
