Dear Scott, Chuck, and/or Steve,
I am going to Managua Nicaragua on Feb. 3, 96. What are the chances of Cerro Negro showing us some action? Has it been active since Dec. 3rd? I know that this is somewhat of an inexact science. But I would value any input you could give me. Your web site is great!!! I am going with a team of other eye doctors and medics to examine eyes, treat eyes, and give away eyeglasses with a group called VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity).

Dear Keith,

Your chances probably aren't too good. As you know, there was an eruption in November. The eruption lasted less than a month which is typical of Cerro Negro. It ended on December 3. Looking back at Cerro Negro's history, the period of repose (time between eruptions) ranges from six months to 20 years. Looks like you'll have to go back if you want to see an eruption. Have a successful trip.
