Where can I find the text of the description of vesuvius by pliny the younger?

rocky Jacquie Siewert-Schade

Hi Jacquie,

I guess that the original accounts were in a letter written by Pliny the Younger to some guy named Tacitus. I imagine that there must be some collection of old Roman letters that would have the original text. However, probably an easier thing to find would be the book "Pompeii & Herculaneum The Glory and the Grief" by Marcel Brion (Crown Publishers, NY). Starting on p. 26 he presents parts of the letters written by Pliny the Younger. I wasn't able to find the source where this came from.

Good luck searching.

Sincerely,

Scott Rowland
