The photos of the Eldfell eruption are spectacular and the story of the eruption is quite impressive. Surtsey was also interesting or beautiful. The recent eruption was interesting.

Guides des Volcans d'Europe et des Canaries by Maurice Krafft contains an excellent chapter about Iceland's volcanoes. It is written in French.

S. Steinthorsson and others have published or are preparing a Catalog of Active Volcanoes - Iceland.

You might look for a copy of T. Einarsson's book on Heimaey.
