When did the Vesuvius Volcano Observatory start and how can I contact it?

Vesuvius Observatory began in 1839. Construction of the observatory started in 1841 and was completed in 1848. The initial idea was to build a geomagnetic observatory, and so the original name was Osservatorio Meteorologico Vesuviano. I have many friends at OV.
