What and where is the closest active volcano to the United Kingdom, above or below sea level?

rocky Mike Painting

Hi Mike,

Well, from looking at a map of active volcanoes it seems as if northern Scotland is about exactly the same distance from Iceland (where there are numerous active volcanoes) as southern England is from Italy (where there are also numerous volcanoes). Take your pick.

Sincerely,

Scott Rowland
