There was a small blurb on the news a couple of weeks ago about an active volcano in California. Can you tell me where this volcano is located and how active it really is?

Hi Mike,

I don't know what that particular news segment may have been talking about. As far as I know, the only volcano in California that is showing any sign of unrest at all, is the Long Valley Caldera. There has been some increased seismicity, increased activity and changes at fumaroles and hot springs, and some ground deformation, however, no eruption is predicted to occur soon. Mt. Lassen has the distinction of being the only California eruption since the arrival of White folks.
