rocky Sandy Summers

Hi Sandy,

I checked a map (which you can do too; there's a good one in "Global Volcanism 1975-1985" by Lindsey McClelland and others). It looks like the closest active volcanoes to central Texas are those in Mexico. The most active of these is Colima, in the state of Jalisco over near the Pacific coast of Mexico. Colima is at 19.42 degrees north, 103.72 degrees west, with a summit elevation of 4100 m.
