Is it true that Mono Craters are the youngest mountain range in
North America?
Kath
Dear Kath,
Mono
Craters is a chain of rhyolite
domes, flows, and craters. They are certainly among the youngest
volcanic landforms
in North America. Two craters formed between 1340 and 1460 A.D. The
domes are only a couple hundred feet tall at the most so they wouldn't be
considered a mountain range.
