What is the Valley of 10,000 Smokes? I've heard it has something to do with volcanoes.

Dear reader,

The Valley of 10,000 Smokes is a pyroclastic flow deposit in Katmai National Park. It was erupted from Katmai volcano in 1912. It was the largest eruption in North America this century. When the valley and deposit was viewed a couple years later it was still steaming. That's how the name originated.
