How many volcanoes are in the world?

Hi Alyssa and Isabel,

"Volcanoes of the World" by Tom Simkin and Lee Seibert says that there are 1511 volcanoes that have erupted during the past 10,000 years. If you add in all the ones that are dead, the number would be higher.
