Cupar SchoolHi Cupar School,
The temperature of basalt, which is the hottest type of lava, is usually between 1140 and 1170 degrees C when it is erupted. Dacite, the type of lava that forms the lava domes at volcanoes like Mt. St. Helens and Pinatubo, is usually around 800-900 degrees C.
Sincerely,
Scott Rowland
