rocky Kristine

Dear Kristine,

Of the 3,211 known eruptions listed in Volcanoes of the World, most (almost 1,200) lasted between 10-100 days. About 950 eruptions lasted between 100 and 1,000 days. About 400 eruptions lasted between 1-10 and 0.1-1 days. About 250 eruptions lasted between 1,000 and 10,000 days. Roughly 50 eruptions have lasted less than 0.1 days (2.5 hours). Roughly 10 eruptions have lasted between 10,000-100,000 days. The median duration is 49 days.
