Landslide
The Nuuanu landslide covers an area of 8,900 square miles (23,000 square
km) north of the island of Oahu. The slide removed much of the north
half of the Koolau volcano. Individual blocks are as long as 35 miles
(60 km). The Wailau landslide removed much of the north flank of the
Wailau volcano of Molokai. Giant landslides are part of the evolution of
most Hawaiian volcanoes. This GLORIA side-scan sonar image is courtesy
