Jornada del Muerto ("Route of the Dead Man") is a shield-shape accumulation of lava erupted from a central vent. The lava covers an area 16 by 24 km. The volume is about 13 cubic km. The vent for the flows is a depression containing a lava lake and a cinder cone. The lava erupted about 760,000 years ago.
