This photo is looking from near the Fernandina caldera rim towards the south. The outlined flow erupted some time in 1982 (the eruption was not actually witnessed). It is near the vents (out of sight below the foreground) and makes a rather abrupt transition to . The hills on the skyline are cinder cones located along arcuate fissures.
