Barcena
Barcena is a small cinder cone on the island of San Benedicto, which is
one of the Revilligigedo Islands. Barcena is about 310 m high, and it was
born on August 1, 1952. It reached a height of 300 m in only 12 days, and
by mid September of that year it had mostly ceased erupting. Two episodes
of lava extrusion in November and December produced lava within the cinder
cone crater and a lava delta at the coastline. By February of 1953 the
eruption was over and since then only fumarolic activity has occurred.
